Part II: Yard Work

So in case you don't recall, our front and backyards were a HOT MESS! We haven't really touched them besides mowing and edging since we moved in . . . not pretty! We tried to clear out the back corner a couple times but it.was.so.terrible. that we would just quit. As soon as we got back from our honeymoon though -- it had to be taken care of. We spent ALL.WEEK working on it! I am not even joking when I say we were up at 8:00am and still working at 5:00pm with only a short lunch break. Did I mention that it was 90+ degrees here too. Well, it was.

In case you have forgotten what a hot mess the yard was, please click here. I will post just a few before pictures so you really get the full effect!

Before

After: Lucas did such a GREAT job fixing the actual lawn . . . good-bye dandelions!

Before

After

Before

After: We ripped out all the grass then moved all the gravel from the front to create a path. This was not easy.

Before: Ack!

Before: Double Ack!

After

After: Close-up of our wedding bench. Our plan is to plant some sort of vine in the pots at the base of the chuppah so that they will grow up and around it, but that will happen next Spring.

We cleared out all the area around the shed, lined it with large river rock and filled in the area with bark mulch.

Some other photos so you can get a feel for the entire yard. Putting the bark mulch around was my favorite part because it created a finished look and smelled so good!

Needless to say we were EXHAUSTED! But we are so happy it is finished and all we have to do is maintain! We do need to fix the doggie corner but luckily the fence blocks it out and we don't have to see that it is still a disaster! :)
